Full Obituary
ALEX R. GRENDZINSKI, JR., age 83, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Thorp Funeral Home. Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu will officiate, and burial will follow in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Darren Szczech, Dustin Szczech, Dan Szczech, Jason Grendzinski, Brian Grendzinski and Shannon Grendzinski. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Thorp Funeral Home from 10am until time of service.
Alex Robert Grendzinski, Jr. was born on November 4, 1936 in Thorp, WI, the son of Alex and Jennie (Losiewicz) Grendzinski, Sr. He was raised on the family farm, received his education at area schools, and graduated from Thorp High School in 1954. After completing his education, Alex went to work at Bellinger Dairy, in Thorp. He was united in marriage to Hilda R. Berg on November 19, 1960 at St. Hedwig's Chapel in Thorp. He worked at Bellinger Dairy until its closing in 1986, and then went to work for Blue Moon Cheese Factory, in Thorp, until retiring in 1998.
Alex had many interests, but especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and bowling in his younger years.
He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, and the Thorp American Legion Post #118.
Alex is survived by his wife, Hilda, of Thorp; 4 children: Anne (Dan) Szczech of Greenwood, Kevin Grendzinski of Weehawkens, NJ, Brian (Shannon) Grendzinski of Thorp, and Jason Grendzinski (Linette Howard) of Blaine, MN; 7 grandchildren: Dustin, Darren, Ashley, Angel, Alyssa, Anton, and Cameron; one great-granddaughter: Kenzie; 2 brothers: Casey Grendzinski of Roseville, IL and Tom (Kathy) Grendzinski of Burnsville, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son: Justin Grendzinski in 1980; 2 brothers: Leon and Bernard Grendzinski; and one sister: Josephine Bauer.
