Full Obituary
THEODORE J. "TED" SLOWATYNIEC, age 81, of Neenah, WI, formerly of Thorp, WI, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Thorp Funeral Home, in Thorp. Pastor Randy VanDeLoo will officiate and burial will follow in Eidsvold Cemetery, rural Stanley, WI. Military rites will be conducted by the Thorp American Legion Post #118. Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home, on Saturday, from 9am until time of service.
Theodore Jerome Slowatyniec (a.k.a. Old George) was born on April 18, 1938 in the Town of Reseburg, rural Thorp, WI, the son of Michael and Mary (Dudra) Slawatyniec. He was raised and received his education in the Thorp area. Ted was united in marriage to Joyce M. Lane on September 10, 1962 in Neillsville, WI. He entered the U.S. Army on September 19, 1961 and served until his honorable discharge on September 18, 1963. After returning from the service, they moved to Neenah, WI and he worked at Badger Concrete in Oshkosh, WI for a few years. Ted then went to work for Chemical Supply in Menasha, which later was sold to Ashland Oil, where he drove truck until his retirement. He was awarded a plaque and a trip to a NASCAR race in Charlotte, NC for having over 2 million miles of safe driving for Ashland Oil. After retiring, Ted had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family and friends, hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the Menasha VFW Post #1052.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Joyce; 3 sons: Frank Slowatyniec, Mike (Lois) Slowatyniec, John (Roxanne) Slowatyniec; 4 grandchildren: Autumn (Kevin) Warning, Robert (Lea) Brendemihl, Devon Slowatyniec, Isabel Slowatyniec; 2 great-grandchildren: Brayden and Kenley Brendemihl; 2 brothers: Nick Slawatyniec of Buffalo City, WI, Malin Slawatyniec of Thorp, WI; 2 sisters-in-law: Carol (Don) Giwojna, Beverly (William) Abramczak; 3 brothers-in-law: Steve (Kim) Lane, Donnie (Cindy) Lane, and John Hazuga Sr.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Tom Slawatyniec; one sister: Carol Rueth; five brothers-in-law: Pat Rueth, John, James, Edward and Robert Lane; and two sisters-in-law: Carol Slawatyniec and Patricia Hazuga.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the VFW Post #1052 in Menasha, WI in memory of "Old George."
