ARVILLA I. MICHUR, age 96, of Thorp, WI, passed away at Oakbrook Health & Rehab on Monday, August 12, 2019. At Arvilla's request, no services will be held. Private inurnment will take place in Old St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery in Thorp.
Arvilla Ina Mayer was born on April 15, 1923 in Eau Claire County, WI, the daughter of George and Ina (Barron) Mayer. She was raised in the Town of Washington and received her education in a one room school house, which the land it sat on was donated to the school board by the Mayer and Zimmerman families. Arvilla was united in marriage to Herman P. Zimmerman on September 29, 1940 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. She was a stay at home mom and raised their 3 children until Herman's health declined, when she went to work at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire in the housekeeping department. After her husband's death on January 11, 1977, Arvilla continued to work at the hospital until 1983.
She loved to go dancing with her friends, and met the love of her life once more. Arvilla danced into the arms of Adam W. Michur and they were married on November 10, 1989 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Eau Claire, at which time they moved to Neillsville then later to Thorp.
Arvilla is survived by 3 children: Bonnie J. (Gene Jr.) Burger of Brooksville, FL, George (Carol) Zimmerman of Spring Valley, WI, Ronald (Lynne) Zimmerman of Fall Creek, WI; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters: Ione Freid and Edna (Harland) Carlson, both of Eau Claire; close friends: Bill (Barb) Fagerland and family of Menomonee Falls, WI, and John (Hillary) Benish of Bluefield, WV; nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Herman and Adam, whom she missed dearly; one sister: Lila A. Mayer; and 4 brothers: Roger, Arnold, Kenneth and Darold Mayer.
