WILLIAM R. "BILL" HRIBAR, age 89, of Greenwood, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care, in Marshfield. There will be no services held. Burial will be held at a later date at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Willard, WI.
William Richard Hribar was born on September 5, 1929 in Willard, WI, to Frank and Mary (Matjazic) Hribar. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in area schools, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1948. After high school, Bill worked on the family farm until his marriage to Mary M. Damgaard at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, in Nashua, IA, in August 1958. He farmed until selling his cows in 1977, and then went to work as a carpenter for Stanley Volovsek and later for Bill Snedic. Bill retired in 2000.
He had many interests, but especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing lawn, building bird houses and cutting firewood. Bill was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by one son: Richard "Rick" (Carol) Hribar of Marshfield; two granddaughters: Trista Hribar of Hartford, WI and Charity Hribar of Neillsville, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, on June 22, 2013; seven brothers: Louis, Ludwig, Anton, John, Joe, Walter and Frank Hribar; and four sisters: Bernice Bruksch, Mary Volovsek, Olga Hedemark and Anna Marincic.
Bill's family would like to thank the staff at Ascension Home Care Hospice for their compassion, comfort, and care given to him during his final weeks.
