HENRY F. "HANK" NOWOBIELSKI, age 88, of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at 10:30am, at Trinity Vineyard Church, W11582 County Road X, Stanley, WI 54768. Pastor Steve Mohr will officiate and burial will follow in East Thorp Cemetery in Thorp with graveside military rites conducted by Thorp American Legion Post #118. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 5-8pm and again on Tuesday, from 9:30am until time of service.
Henry Frank Nowobielski was born on March 8, 1930 in Thorp, WI, the son of Andrew and Catherine (Wnek) Nowobielski. He was raised and educated in the Thorp area. After completing his education, Hank served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from October 21, 1948 until his honorable discharge on May 31, 1952. After his discharge from the military, Hank was united in marriage to Gertie Ogurek and they later divorced. He worked at O & N Lumber in Thorp for a few years before going to work at Anderson Furniture. He was united in marriage to Colleen Baron Kryzanski on August 7, 1977 at Faith Evangelical Free Church in Stanley. Hank then purchased the furniture business in 1983 and operated it as Hank's Furniture & Carpeting until his retirement in 1997.
Hank had many interests, but especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, listening and dancing to polka music, and watching the Packers and Brewers. He also was an avid supporter of Thorp High School athletic teams over the years.
He was a member of the Thorp American Legion Post #118, a member of the Thorp Sportsmen Club, and a member of the Maple Grove Bible Church.
Hank is survived by his wife: Colleen of Thorp; 5 children: Gary (Debra) Nowobielski of Lodi, Linda (Tom) Carrigan of Hudson, Lois (Dean) Benzschawel of Thorp, Laurie (Ed) Hock of DePere, and Jesse (Kaye) Nowobielski of Thorp; 3 step-children: Pamela (Bob) Zielenski of Eau Claire, Keith Kryzanski of Minneapolis, MN, and Brian Kryzanski of Thorp; 13 grandchildren:11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Christine Niedzwiecki and Joan (Gerald) Rademaker, both of Thorp; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son: Gayle Nowobielski; 1 step-daughter: Jennifer Dulla; 3 brothers: Joseph, Leon, and Clarence Nowobielski; and 2 sisters: Francis Larkowski and Marie Baginski.
