DOROTHY B. GEISLER, age 95, of Greenwood, passed away at Atrium Post Acute Care in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, on Monday, April 16, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, April 23, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood. Rev. Steve Brice will officiate and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Monday, from 10am until time of service.
Dorothy Barbara Soeller was born on July 20, 1922 in Chippewa Falls, WI, to Alex and Rosetta (Smasal) Soeller. She was raised in the Breezy Hill area, west of Thorp, where her father owned Breezy Hill Cheese Factory. Dorothy received her elementary education in a country school and graduated from Thorp High School in 1940. After high school, she worked at the Royal Hotel, in Stanley, and at Hiller's Red & White Store in Thorp. Dorothy was united in marriage to Ervin O. Geisler on September 16, 1947 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, in Thorp. They moved to Greenwood and worked for Clark County operating the Home for the Aged until her husband's death on July 10, 1980. She later went to work for the Clark County Aging Department, where she was responsible for the Meals on Wheels program in the Greenwood area. After retiring in 2008, Dorothy resided in Greenwood until entering the nursing home in December 2017.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, gardening, fishing, relaxing at Mead Lake, crossword puzzles, and always had baked cookies for her granddaughters when they visited.
Dorothy is survived by her son: Arden (Nancy) Geisler of Wisconsin Rapids; two granddaughters: Ellen Geisler of Fond du Lac, WI, Lisa (Tom) Hora of Reedsburg, WI; one great granddaughter: Madelyn Hora of Reedsburg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin; one sister: Viola Kumbera, and one brother: Robert Soeller.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to her friends for looking after her so she could stay in her home as long as she did. Also, thank you to all of the staff at Atrium Post Acute Care for their wonderful, supportive care given to Dorothy in adjusting to her new home.
