Full Obituary
JEAN L. HERMSEN, age 92 of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen, WI. Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, in Thorp, with Rev. Janusz Kowalski officiating. Visitation will be held at the church, on Tuesday, from 11am until time of service. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery, in Little Chute, WI, at 1pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.
Jean Lucille Killian was born December 3, 1925, in Kaukauna, WI, the daughter of Henry and Susan (Schmitz) Killian. She graduated from Kaukauna High School, and after graduation worked at International Harvester in Milwaukee, Zwicker Knitting Mill in Appleton, and clerked at various stores. On May 28, 1949, Jean was united in marriage to Herbert P. Hermsen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kaukauna. After their marriage, they moved to Wausau and then to Thorp, where Jean has resided since 1951. She entered the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen, WI in 201l.
Jean was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its PCCW. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, reading and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert, of Thorp; four children: Mark Hermsen of Kingwood, TX, Mary (Rodney) Rathbun of Thorp, Renee Hermsen of Tucson, AZ and Therese (Mitch) Rothman of Roseville, MN; six grandchildren: Claire (Hany) Mahi, Blaise Hermsen, Kevin (Annie) Rogalski, Eric (Tina) Rogalski, Andrea (Reid) Sebion and Elissa Rothman; four great grandchildren: Tori Rogalski, Annabelle, Jared and Cayden Rogalski; one brother: Paul (Jeanne) Killian of Kaukauna, WI; one brother-in-law: Bill Vanderloop of Kaukauna, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Bob Killian; and three sisters: Rita Wagner, Joy Vanderloop and Marie Van Elsen.
