Full Obituary
Edward John Maslowski, age 85, of Thorp, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the Clark County Health Care Center. Ed was born on April 3, 1932, in Thorp, WI, the son of John and Helen (Przywara) Maslowski. He was raised in Thorp and graduated from Thorp High School in 1950.
Ed married Shirley (Moen) in 1954 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Chicago. They later moved back to Wisconsin and farmed until 1975. Ed was a dairy farmer and cheesemaker; worked at ITT Life Insurance before starting his antique business The Country Shop. His antique business brought the opportunity to meet many people who stopped in at his business as well as the thrill of a hunt for finding, refurbishing and selling collectibles. He was an active church-goer and later became involved with setting up the Thorp Historical Society and the Telephone Museum and restoring the old St. Hedwig’s country church with the Hands Foundation.
Ed will sadly be missed by his children, grand children, great grandchildren, sisters, cousins and friends: Jean Emery, Nancy Maslowski, Mona (Arlen) Offord, Sally (Keith) Seaman, Sue Leonard, Charlie Maslowski, Mike (Heidi, Tyler, Brock and Reese) Maslowski, Jesse (Jodi and Jordan) Smith; Albert (Brandi, Carter and Dawson) Smith; Jamie (Johnny) Sweda; Mitch (Kelly and Clayton) Offord; Luke Seaman; Carmen (Brian, Thomas, Jack and Ethan) Abramczak; his sisters Evelyn Jacobsen; Delores Strohman and Patricia Kohlbeck.
Preceded in death by his spouse, Shirley, on October 27, 2009, and his parents, John and Helen Maslowski.
Visitations will be Friday, September 29, 2017, from 9 am to 10:30 am at the St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, 111 North Church Street, Thorp, WI; with mass at 10:30 am and burial to follow in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery in Thorp.
