On the day Bernard died I was in Rochester getting an angiogram. During the following week my aortic valve and aorta were replaced. Currently I am in my home in Eau Claire recovering and going through cardiac rehab. Just read the Thorp Courier with Bernard's obituary. I last saw him at the funeral for Lucy Brenner; As I believe that all of cousins on my father's side have died, Lucy and Bernard were my closest living relatives. I have memories of going out to the farm to visit Tina (my grandmother's sister) and Hans. Back then Bernard was still living on the home farm. In later years mother and I were closer to Lucy, but still valued the relationship with Bernard. Judging from his appearance at Lucy's funeral, his passing is probably no surprise to you. Yet, even when expected, losing a parent is difficult. You have my sympathy
