Jim will be missed from the many hunting and fishing trips we went on. He enjoyed being with friends and having a good time, sometimes having a hard time saying goodbye.

Jim was one of my "boys". I was a young scout leader in Mequon, WI during the 1970's. Jim, along with about 5 other 11-yr olds, joined Troop 44 in the fall of 1970 and like many of the kids, was the little brother I never had. It didn't take long to figure out that Jim was a fun kid. In fact, he was alot of fun....... laughing very easily and finding harmless mischief in many ways. On a canoe trip on the Peshtigo River in May, 1971, Jim was in the bow of a canoe, taking a rest from paddling. The canoe I was in pulled alongside of his, and with the tip of my paddle I pushed Jim backwards over the side of his canoe, with his legs hanging over the canoe at the most perfect of angles. He went into the river backwards, head first, and kicked himself free. I knew he was an excellent swimmer and would have no problem getting out of that mess..... needless to say he came up sputtering, calling me every name he could think of....... and soon he joined in with the rest of us....laughing at how much fun we all had....not at Jim's expense but because we always had a good time with each other...easily 30-35 boys and 10-12 dads. Jim had many gifts and skills and a thirst for learning, the latter helping him earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Though we more or less lost contact with each other in the last 40 or so years, it was always fun to catch up with Jim and see what mischief he was up to. I'll miss him. It hurts to know that he is gone but to his loved ones and friends, he'll never be forgotten.
