Dear Melissa, I am SO sorry we couldn’t be there for Roger’s funeral and so sad for you all. He was such a part of our lives, that it just doesn’t seem so. Growing up as neighbors, I can still see the dust from him driving by with some souped-up car or motorcycle. He always was happy, and loved to have fun. When I Googled to his name to find out more of the accident, the first thing that came up was a Sunshine Award. It was presented to you two, thanking you for the use of your pond and shelter. It made me smile because I feel that was him…always trying to make life fun! If there was a dance with some good old Rock ‘n Roll, he was the first one trying to get you on the floor. When he first saw you, there was a big smile with a “Hey dere!” And I remember once breaking 3 of my toes when he told us to hide from the cops after sneaking into Rock Dam after hours!?! Needless to say we got caught…but “Pedro” talked us out of a ticket!!! He was a best friend to my brother Tom, and my family loved the trips to Canada. Our son Joey even has the Hunting Crew picture proudly hanging in his bedroom. He was SO loved by many! You were the love of his life, Melissa, or as he so fondly called you, Stodda-Bobba! I remember you met after our senior year. I wondered what your parents would think, bringing you home with the mufflers rattling?!? But they fell in love with him as much as you! He didn’t need to put on airs…never had to have the latest. It was a t-shirt, camouflage hat, shaded glasses, and a good pair of tennies! You both worked hard to raise such a wonderful family, and I can only imagine how he beamed with his new granddaughter! When I heard there were fireworks at the pond, I was so happy…a perfect send-off to heaven!! He will be so missed by many, but I know because his life touched so many, his memory will carry on for generations. All of our love to your whole family, Miss. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace, Roger. Love, Sandy

Roger was such a good man and always had time to visit. He was always a good sport when we were in highschool and the years after when 15 teenagers piled into his basement to watch tv or play pool, raided his fridge and made all kinds of noise. Always made sure to check up on us too! I'm very thankful to have gotten to know this family so well through the years and I hope you are all able to find peace. God bless.
