Condolences to the Family of Mark E. Shain

Adam Mueller Greenwood, Wi – Posted On: July 2, 2025

Devastated to hear of Mark's passing. So much of my childhood was spent with "Mark the Mean Old Bus Driver," as he called himself. No one ever actually thought that title was true, though. We all loved him. I'll never forget loving his stories from his days as a trucker, listening to his sports radio talk shows when I was one of the last on the bus, and the CORRECT pronunciation of the name "Hanna Barbera" (It's a big deal.)
He put up with a lot from me those years, and I'm so grateful for his lasting influence on my childhood life. While bittersweet, I'm glad my last memory with him was when he handed me my High School Diploma, encapsulating all that time I spent with him. I'll never forget such a special moment, with such a special guy.
I'll miss ya, Mark.

My heart is saddened to hear of Mark's passing. What a great friend he was to me! I was blessed to work during my teen years on his & Judy's farm, Pine-Knob Dairy, from 1990-1995. Mark instantly made me feel like part of the family. He took me under his wing and was a strong mentor to me in my formative years. He helped me get my driver's license, watched me develop a strong work ethic, showed me kindness, shared wisdom, and taught me how to think for myself. Of course, he stirred up my interest in politics (how can I forget all the times we listened to Rush Limbaugh's commentary about the crooked Clinton's on the EIB network?) He always had something positive to share and I'll never forget his laugh! Although I lost touch with Mark over the years, his influence upon my life was felt and very much remembered. I'm not ashamed to say that I am who I am today largely because of Mark's influence! I'm so glad we were able to reconnect last year with a wonderful phone call. Sending my deepest condolences to Judy, Doug, Cindy, and the rest of his family.
