Just got the news and am so very sad. I just talked to Leif a few weeks ago. Leif was one of my best friends on Earth and I can't describe how much I loved being his drummer, friend, and pain in the ass. Our marathon talks on politics were always entertaining and I will miss that and so much more. Still trying to wrap my head around this as I haven't been on social media for months. I last spoke to Leif in early February and as usual, we talked for about an hour. We always said 'I love you bud' when we hung up. I've got one less true confidant and life-advisor now. So terribly sorry to hear this and my condolences go out to his family and many friends. Leif was one of a kind and our friendship through over 40 years will be irreplaceable. To my eternal friend Leif, I wish you a long deserved rest in heaven with lots of diving, fishing, and rockin' out. Peace buddy, see you soon enough.

I was very saddened to learn that my old friend Leif Rhodes has passed away. I had known Leif since 8th grade at Comstock. He was the best friend a guy could have. Leif was one of the smartest people I’ve ever known and he had a heart of gold too. I loved hanging out with him. So much fun with Boy's Night Out back in the day. I admired his work ethic and how he followed his passion in life. We could go for long periods of time without talking to each other and just pick up where we left off. Spending time with Lief you were always sure to learn something or have a good laugh, probably both. He broke the mold and was truly one of a kind. The world was a better place with him in it. I miss him terribly. Adios amigo, you were the best. We will meet again.

My deepest condolences go out to Leifs mother and sister and other family members. Leif was one of a kind and the mold has been broken. I was just talking to him a month ago and he was going to come to Alaska this summer as my guest and go fishing as he loved it so much. I visited him in Santa Rosa in 2007 i believe and I have a video of him zooming over to his house from the Sonoma County fairgrounds and picking me and a friend up in a golf cart. He was doing sound for tower of power and Gordy barns band was playing at another venue on the fairgrounds. Leif was the first person i met when i moved to Santa Rosa to pursue Music . We would go to open mic Nite and trade off playing bass on songs. Also Leif had me help him out with some live sound situations like the Phil Donohue show and some others . He introduced me to the great band Pyramid and i roadied and helped do lights. We really had great times and Ill never forget that time in my life. I will miss all the laughing an jokes as we had the same sense of humor. I and many others will miss talking on the phone and yakking on facebook. Rest in peace my friend.

I was saddened to hear of Leifs' passing. My thoughts are with you Martha, and your family. Leif was a good man, a talented man, whose laugh was infectious and grand. My friends and I would go to hear him play and have a good time. He always watched over me and made sure I was safe and made it home safely after many a night out. He will be missed. Leif, bro, you already know what I have to say because I talk to you every day now. People probably think I'm nuts and I'm sure you would laugh. That's one thing I loved about you is your ability to laugh and your sense of humor, but there is so much more to love. You were such an amazing big brother to have and I always felt safe with you around. I wish you were still out here in California, but I know you also loved the freedom of where you moved to as well as the clean air, the fishing, and being near Mom. You were so wonderfully talented and such a beautiful person but most of all, you loved your family and friends and we all love you. Forever and always, your baby sister Booser.
