To the family of Joe Lato,
Thank you for taking such good care of Joe during his last years. It was a pleasure to meet him with Roy and Judy during one of their visits to Holy Family Parish, Arcadia. His sharp mind and good nature brought joy to the conversation and meal. Meeting Joe is probably the closest I will ever come to knowing the heart of his good friend, Fr. Joe Walijewski. I imagine that, in addition to meeting family, the two Joe's will rejoice to see each other before the throne of God's mercy and goodness. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.

We are very sorry for your loss. We remember Joe for his beautiful roses. He brought them into the office often, to decorate the front counter, so all the dental patients could enjoy them. Everyone commented on how wonderful they looked and smelled. He will be truly missed. Our condolences to all his family.

At Casa Hogar we will be offering 10 Masses over the next two weeks for the repose of Joe Lato and for his family. Here at Casa we are deeply indebted to his missionary zeal and friendship with Father Joe Walijewski from our Diocese. Father Joe W. was pastor in the late 60´s in Thorp and from there went to South America to build a parish ministry in the middle of abject poverty. He had only his salary and then the help of Joe Lato and other great people from the Diocese of La Crosse. When Father Joe completed his mission in the parish after 14 years he then founded the orphanage of Casa Hogar Juan Pablo II in Lurin. When Father Joe retired and Father Sebastian continued the mission, Joe and his family continued to help. When I cam here as Director 7 years ago Joe and his family have always been there for us. Thank you to Joe and to all his family for the wonderful example given to serve God´s poor in the missions. Our children will be sending over these days some cards and messages of prayers. God bless you all.
