My Grandfather Adolf Jankee I was told that he was a cousin to Emily's mother Karoline (Klabon) Rohland and sponsored him to emmigrate to the U.S. around 1914. I remember taking my mother Milita (Jankee) Parliament to visit Emily in Greenwood, WI. The years were between 2007-2013. My Grandfather his family used to live at the corner of Hickory and Pray Ave. this is now owned by his Great-granddaughter Alanna (Turner) @ Tim Habermeyer. My mother and Emily enjoyed talking about family. I remember in addition to Emily's modern kitchen stove she had a working wood burning kitchen stove. Emily always made me feel so welcome.

I was one of the students at Rocky Run School and enjoyed Mrs Fijalkiewicz teaching for several years She was my "all-time" favorite teacher. Such enthusiasm, inspiring, encouraging and would also listen and console if necessary. I also remember the friendliness of her husband George. Our condolences to the entire family. So sorry to hear of her passing. Many good memories of the Deuscher Club meetings and being in the parades. I accompanied them for a time on accordion before we moved out of the area. She always had such enthusiasm and joy.

Our sympathy to the entire family. We were privileged to have known both Emily and George. They were wonderful grandparents and great grandparents who are deeply missed. We know how much Malena and Linnea loved them.N

Our heartfelt sympathy to all. The Klabon-Rohland matriarchs and patriarchs are now all together in heaven. Emily was such a strong lady. Our generation proudly carries on.

Our Deepest Sympathy to the Rohland & Fijalkiewicz family. Emily was a great teacher who so enjoyed teaching the kids. I always enjoyed
Emily’s visits to the library. She served on the Greenwood Public Library board for many years & served on the Economic Development Board
for the City of Greenwood. The Braun family has many great memories of both Emily & George & we are very grateful for their friendship.
May the Lord give you all the strength to get through these trying times. God Bless You All! Clayton & Pat Braun

During my year as an AFS exchange student (from Brazil) at Fred and Margaret Rohland's from 1967 to 1968 I had the opportunity to meet Emily and George several times. The Rohlands and relatives had often family reunions and celebrations and I was overjoyed to be part of it. It was undoubtedly one of the best years of my life! Endless memories, but I shall try to concentrate on Emily. 1977 I got married to Bernhard, an outstanding German Occupational Therapist. We were able to meet Emily and George as they were looking for relatives both in Germany and Lithuania. In 1992 Bernhard and I together with our 3 sons visited Fred Rohland and Dennis. Margaret unfortunately was not there any more. Lois and Barbara were busy working. Marcia and Bob took us to Lorie's family. Emily organized unforgetful trips to Hannibal (Mississipi and Mark Twain!). We were introduced to German communities in Greenwood and Bethel - only to number a few. Emily and George also took Fred along to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where Bernhard was an Aid Worker for 6 years. We thank God Emily played such an important role in our lives! All the letters and cards she wrote!... Today we pray for her, her family, relatives and friends. We would like to thank Marcia, who keeps contact and always did her best to let us know how Emily was doing. May Emily rest in peace!

To Emily’s family,
I have such good memories of Mrs. Fijalkiewicz as a student. She seemed to have an awareness of the bigger world and shared her enthusiasm for it. Loved her sense of humor. It was a source of pride to be able to spell her name. Ha!
May the angels lead her into paradise.

Mrs. Fijalkiewicz was my favorite teacher of all time. You could sense how much she loved teaching and interacting with her students. She had the best laugh and kept the learning environment light by creating fun games for us to learn. Her husband George was our mailman and always had a huge wave every day while delivering mail. If I recall correctly, she and George loved to square dance. Keep laughing and square dancing Mrs. F - enjoy eternity.

Emily…a teaching mentor & colleague, a wonderful neighbor, and a dear friend. We came to Greenwood in 1970 and in 1978 built a home on land that we purchased from Emily & George, just across the road from them. From then, and until we moved to Plymouth in 2006, we enjoyed so many interactions. Some of those included helping each other out on home projects, along with lots of socializing, and working together on many different community events. Emily was well informed, was a world traveler, and searched and made contact with relatives that were part of her and George’s genealogy. We enjoyed the pictures and talking about their experiences. During this time of sadness, we recall so many more memories about our life connections with Emily. We will miss her, but never forget her. Her family is in our thoughts.
