My deepest sympathies to the Kolbo family, and to all those who knew and loved Gene. My stepdad Randy Rolfs introduced me to his new friend Gene Kolbo after our family moved to the Greenwood area back in 1987. One of my childhood friends from school was Byron Fay, whom I only later discovered, was Gene's stepson. Just knowing that I was not the only boy out there being raised by someone who was not my biological father was such a comfort to me in my youth. Thank you so much for loving your family the way you did, Gene. And thank you so much for your military service to our country. You will be missed.

My sincere sympathy to the family.
I have known Gene since he was in the first grade at Christopherson school. He was one of a kind and surely will be missed.
