Full Obituary

     WILBERT W. "BILL" ADAMS, age 84, of Greenwood, WI, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Three Oaks, in Marshfield, WI.  Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Greenwood.  Rev. Brian Campbell will officiate and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Greenwood American Legion Post #238.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Thursday, from 10am until time of service.
     Wilbert William Adams was born on September 13, 1932 in Christie, WI, the son of Elmer C. and Hazel M. (Brown) Adams.  He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Town of Pine Valley, rural Neillsville, WI.  As a young man, Bill hauled milk for his father and worked in the harvest fields out west.  He was inducted in to the U.S. Army on January 23, 1953 and served in Korea until his honorable discharge on December 2, 1954.  After Bill returned home from the service, he worked in Marshfield as a carpet/flooring installer.  He was united in marriage on August 25, 1956 to Ruby A. Stabnow at Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood.  They lived in Marshfield for a short time and then moved back to Greenwood.  Bill worked at the Farmer's Store in Greenwood, for a several years, worked for Bunny Bread, having his own route in Clark County for 10 years, and was a carpet/flooring installer for Greenwood Homes for a few years.  In the late 1970's, he started his own business, Greenwood Carpet Service, installing all types of flooring throughout the area until retiring in the late 1990's.  Throughout the years, Bill enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, woodworking, playing marbles, cards and cribbage, and traveling.
     He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.  Bill was a very active member of the Greenwood American Legion for more than 50 years, where you could find him cooking at the fish fry's, pancake suppers, and steak feeds, or marching and driving in local parades.  He was also a member of the VFW Post 2241 and Post 6220, and the 40/8 Group #821.
     He will be dearly missed by his wife, Ruby, of Greenwood;  three daughters:  Carol (Floyd) Struensee of Neillsville, Janice (Robert) Clark of Willard, Diane (Wayne) Genteman of Greenwood;  six grandchildren:  Jeff (Heather) Struensee, Phil (Tanya) Struensee, Brian (Monique) Struensee, Lindsey Genteman, Tyler Genteman, and Dakota Clark;  five great-grandchildren:  Lorlie, Fletcher, Violet, Whitaker and Cam;  four sisters:  Rhoena Marg of Granton, Nancy Versecki of Marshfield, Bonnie (Denis) Kuechenmeister of Granton, Barb Olson of Neillsville;  one sister-in-law: Lana Adams-Ormond of Neillsville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers:  Larry Adams and David Adams in infancy; his father and mother-in-law: Carl F. and Lila M. Stabnow; and one brother-in-law: Bill Stabnow.
