Mavis Ida Otto was born on July 31, 1925 in the Town of Beaver, rural Loyal, WI, the daughter of George and Mathilda (Dallmann) Otto.  She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Loyal area, graduating from Loyal High School in 1943. After high school, Mavis moved to Milwaukee where she worked for a short time before returning to Loyal. She was united in marriage to Allen L. Luber on September 7, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Loyal.  Together they farmed and raised their family in the Town of Beaver.  She was also very active in the Loyal American Legion, where she worked for over 20 years as a cook and helping at various events.  They retired in 1999 and sold the farm to their son, Jeff. She continued to live on the farm until shortly before her death.
Mavis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, its TLCW, and started the Meal-with-a-Peal dinner with Ina Miller; the Loyal American Legion Auxiliary, the Trim & Tidy Homemakers Club, and served as the chaplain for the Clark County American Legion Auxiliary from 1995-2008.
She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, playing cards and games, and her dog, Boomer.
Mavis will be dearly missed by her children: Barbara (Everett) Sherman of Viola, AR, Keith Luber of Loyal, Carol (Harvey) Baumbach of Osseo, WI, Jeff Luber of Loyal; 2 grandchildren: Valerie (Jeff) Seltun of Stillwater, MN, Daniel (Sarah) Baumbach of Eau Claire, WI; one step great-granddaughter: Faith Seltun of Eau Claire, WI; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen, on December 4, 2012; 3 brothers: Paul Otto, and Norman & Walter Otto in infancy; and 2 sisters: Alma Pieper and LaVerna Litka.
