Full Obituary

     VINCENT A. "PETE" LINDNER, age 91, of Loyal, passed away at Clark County Rehab & Living Center, in Owen, on Sunday, August 7, 2016 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Friday, August 12, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Steve Brice will officiate and burial will follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post #175. Pete's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, from 11am until time of service.
     Vincent Andrew Lindner was born on December 27, 1924 in Loyal, WI, to Andrew M. and Katherine E. (Gries) Lindner. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Greenwood. After completing his education, Pete worked on his parent's farm before being inducted into the U.S. Army on September 27, 1944, where he served in the southern Philippines until his honorable discharge on May 18, 1946. After returning from the service, Pete purchased a dairy farm in Loyal. While working on the farm, he also worked with his brother, Robert, doing excavating work. He was united in marriage to Nina Redetzke on October 2, 1946 in Stratford, WI. Together they farmed and raised 5 children. Nina died on November 19, 1986. Pete later married Lois Zimmermann on May 25, 1991 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. She died on April 6, 2003. After retiring in 1996, he moved into Loyal and spent his winters in Texas. On June 28, 2008, Pete married Eileen Hodnett at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal.
     He had many interests, but especially enjoyed listening and dancing to Polka music, loved driving around the countryside watching farmers work in the  fields, watching his son and grandsons in their construction business, and playing cards, especially sheepshead and 31.
     Pete was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, a member of the Loyal American Legion, where he was a past Post Commander and instrumental in the building of the new Legion Hall, a former town Chairman for the Town of Loyal, a member of the Knights of Columbus Lady of Fatima Council, a member of the 40 & 8 Group 821 Wisconsin, was formerly on the board of directors for the Production Credit Association, and was formerly a very active member of the Loyal Corn Festival Committee.
     He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of Loyal; four children: Judy (Denny) Olson of Greenwood, Darlene Woodkey of Spencer, Patrick "Stub" (Christine) Lindner of Loyal, Kay Schultz of Stevens Point; one daughter-in-law: Lavon Lindner (friend Roger Ellison) of Loyal; ten step children: David (Fran) Zimmermann of Northern Wisconsin, Rick (Elaine) Zimmerman of La Crosse, Tim Zimmermann of Germany, Allan (Bridget) Hodnett of Muskego, WI, Karen (Tim) Swiggum of Owen, Nancy Abramczak of Thorp, Lynn (Jan) Hodnett of Rice Lake, WI, Lois Anderson of Chippewa Falls, WI, Larry (Donelle) Hodnett of Chippewa Falls, WI, Kay (Donald "Stub") Boening of Owen; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen step grandchildren; twenty nine great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; three sisters: Joan Hughes of Marshfield, Tessie Michalski of Marshfield, Carmen Neste of Covington, WA; two brothers: Andrew (Delores) Lindner of Muskego, Thomas (Loraine) Lindner of Loyal; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Nina and Lois; three children: Peter, Paul and Mary in infancy, and Michael "Hunter" on January 8, 2002; two grandsons: Patrick and Paul Olson; two sisters: Lucille Lindner and Rita Stewart; one brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Ellen) Lindner; two sons-in-law: Ted Woodkey and Thomas Schultz; and three brothers-in-law: Michael Hughes, Eugene Merkel and Robert Michalski.
     Pete says, "He was so blessed with his first wife, but then was blessed twice more."
     The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Clark County Rehab & Living Center for the wonderful care provided to Pete during his stay there.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pete's family where a permanent memorial will be designated at a later date.
