JOHN KOWAL, age 71, of Lublin, WI, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Rev. Madanu Sleeva Raju will officiate and burial will follow in the Town of Roosevelt Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Kowal III, Brian Kowal, Kelly Dietzler, Tim Pizzi, Joe Burkhardt and Bobby Kodl. Visitation will be held at the church, on Tuesday, from 10am until time of service.
John Kowal was born in Chicago, IL on January 23, 1943, to Joseph and Louise (Mravik) Kowal. As a young child, his family moved to Lublin where he was raised on a farm. John attended Lublin Elementary School and Gilman High School. In 1964, John moved to Chicago, where he worked for several employers over the next 10 years. In 1974, he moved back to Lublin and purchased a dairy farm, which he operated until 2008. He was united in marriage to Patricia (Kostick) Lew on January 21, 1983 in Medford, WI. He was also the proud owner of K&K Whitetail Deer Farm from 1988 to 2013, and enjoyed driving for the Amish in the Lublin area, for LogistiCare and M.T.M..
He had many interests, but especially enjoyed fishing, and hunting deer, bear and turkeys.
He was a former member of the Town of Roosevelt Rod & Gun Club, and served as chairman for the Town of Roosevelt for 6 years.
John is survived by his wife: Patricia, of Lublin; one step son: Roger (Roseanne) Miller of Lublin; 7 step grandchildren; 11 sisters: Josephine Pizzi of Abbotsford, WI; Bernadine Kowal of New London, WI; Margaret (Don) Shere of Lena, IL; Veronica (Roger) Nichols of Gilman, WI; Theresa (Jim) Plastina of McHenry, IL; Mary Ann (Gordon) Dietzler of Gilman, WI; Virginia (Bill) Bishop of Fremont, WI; Angeline (Earl) Feltner of Tampa, FL; Rosella (Steve) Strnad of California; Alberta Kowal of Elk Grove Village, IL; Charlotte (Steve) Schab of Wesley Chapel, FL; 2 brothers: Alojz Kowal of Gilman, WI; and Joseph Jr. (Kathy) Kowal of Franklin Park, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
