JUDITH ANN "GEE" SHEWCZYK, age 73, of Lublin, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 28, 2014, with her Godson by her side.
Judy was born September 19, 1940 to Clarence and Marie (Fenno) Premeau in Westboro, WI and was united in marriage to John Shewczyk in Huron, WI on June 3, 1957. Judy and Johnny farmed together in Lublin, town of Roosevelt, for over thirty years.
Judy received a Nursing assistant degree on July 12, 1965. Judy received her high school diploma from the American School based in Chicago, IL on August 3, 1967. Her life's passion for education was started on June 6, 1969 when she graduated from Taylor County Teachers College in Medford, WI. On May 13, 1973, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Mount Scenario College, Ladysmith, WI. Judy was recognized throughout the years as an outstanding educator and was named to the Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
Judy taught elementary school in Lublin, Hannibal and then Gilman for a total of thirty two years, retiring in 2001. Judy was an active 4-H counselor for over 25 years and enjoyed the Taylor County fair competitions.
Judy was an educator and mentor to many with a special interest in Wisconsin history. Judy was a loving Wife, Sister, Aunt, and friend to all that came into her home. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, knitting, embroidery, crocheting, listening to polka music, and "going for a ride" with her friends, neighbors and family to Black River Falls to play the Hot Shot slot machines.
Aside from her parents, preceding her in death was the love of her life, her husband Johnny in 1990. Also preceding her in death were a brother, Clarence Premeau, Jr.; and a sister, Jo Ann Premeau.
Survivors include her sister Barbara (Ray) Pawlak, Thorp, WI; brother Randy Premeau, Conover, WI; brother James Premeau, Kenosha, WI, godchildren, Chad (Jo Ann) Pawlak, Greenwood, WI; Nannette (Joel) Ganotisi, Honolulu, HI, numerous nieces and nephews (including greats and great-greats), and many extended family. Judy is also survived by nephew Michael Jason Premeau of Lublin, WI, who held a very special place in Gee's heart.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Hope Hospice for their help during this difficult time, and to special family friend Penny Pattee of Thorp, WI, for the kind and loving care provided to Gee during the last few months.
Funeral service will be held at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Lublin, WI on Saturday, July 5, at 2 p.m. with Revered Ted Wojcik officiating. Burial will take place in the Church cemetery immediately following service.
