ROGER R. PETRANOVICH, age 55, of Thorp, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in the Town of Anson, Chippewa County. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Hedwig's Chapel, in Thorp. Burial will take place in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at St. Hedwig's Chapel, on Friday, from 11am until time of service.
Roger Ray Petranovich was born on August 25, 1958 in Stanley, WI, the son of James Sr. and Genevieve (Lasiuk) Petranovich. He was raised and received his education in Thorp, graduating from Thorp High School in 1977. After completing high school, Roger was a self employed milk hauler for Greenwood Milk Products, in Greenwood, for 25 years. He was united in marriage to Melissa J. Jarocki at St. Hedwig's Chapel on July 11, 1981. For the past 5 years, he has been employed at Haas Sons, Inc. in Thorp.
He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. He loved to work on his hobby farm, where he raised cattle, and especially took great pride in his pond, where he held many family gatherings. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, which he loved unconditionally. He also loved a good fireworks display, deer hunting, and his many fishing trips to Canada.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Melissa, of Thorp; his 3 children: Nick (Nikki) of Greenwood, Amy Petranovich of Eau Claire, Lindsey Petranovich of Thorp; one granddaughter: Aurora Petranovich; his mother: Genevieve Petranovich of Thorp; 6 siblings: Wayne (Christina) Petranovich of Thorp, James Jr. (Julianne) Petranovich of Thorp, Roy (Holly) Petranovich of Appleton, Shirley (Sterling) Wright of Baraboo, Sherry (Greg) Murphy of Thorp, Jeannie Petranovich of Seattle, WA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Petranovich Sr. and one sister, Joyce Petranovich in infancy.
