ESTHER M. BRAUN, age 91, of Greenwood, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, in Greenwood, with Rev. Brian Campbell officiating. Burial will take place in the Greenwood City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 10am until time of service.
Esther Mildred Bauer was born on November 19, 1922 in Riplinger, WI, the daughter of Nicholaus and Selma (Johnson) Bauer. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Riplinger area, graduating from Riplinger High School. Esther worked at the Riplinger store and babysat for the owners. She was united in marriage to Harry P. Braun on November 7, 1942 in Unity. Esther worked with her husband in their logging business and later worked at Weston Woodworks in rural Neillsville. Her husband, Harry, died on June 19, 1995. She remained in her home in the Town of Eaton until the time of her death.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she quilted with the ladies on Monday's, and was active in the Ladies Aide.
Esther had many interests, but especially loved being with her family and grandchildren, fishing and traveling.
She is survived by her children: Richard (Susan) Braun of Granton, Suzanne (Dennis) Fravert of Loyal, Janice (James) Markee of Fond Du Lac, David (Jane) Braun of Greenwood; 16 grandchildren: Todd (Terry) Braun of Madison, Tammy (Jeff) Redetzke of Marshfield, Daniel (Tina) Braun of Melrose, Shanna (Shawn) Kolberg of Appleton, Annette (David) Mavis of Greenwood, Timothy Fravert of Thorp, Donald Fravert of Withee, Kristin Markee of Hartland, Karin (John) Veard of Oshkosh, Kathleen (Robert III) Griese of Oshkosh, Melissa Behrens of Eau Claire, Rebecca (Raymond III) Rothmeier of Granton, Joshua Braun of Greenwood, Richard (Heather) Bravener of Loyal, Jody (Travis) Steiger of Portage, Jacquelin Bravener of Appleton; 35 great grandchildren: Logan and McKenzie Braun, Nathan and JoHanna Beyer, Aubrey, Alyssa, Payton and Jerrin Braun, Devinne Syth, Carsen and Caleb Kolberg, CJ and Nicholas Mavis, Ashley Charneski, Tyler, Tressa and Christopher Fravert, David Payne, Sabrina and Rebecca Fravert, Kayden Martens, Allison and Lauren Neuendorf, Katie and Claire Veard, Malarie and Robert Griese IV, Jacey and Jayla Behrens, Paige Rothmeier, Brady and Bailey Bravener, Emily Hayes, Phillip and Aaron Steiger, Casey Bravener, Cheyenne Susa and Ashli Rowe; 4 great great grandchildren: Grayson Mavis, Preston and Keegan Charneski, Blayze Braun; one sister-in-law: Minerva Bauer of Colby; one brother-in-law: Orlando Kind of Greenwood; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; one brother: Maynard Bauer; and 3 sisters: Helen O'Brien, Mae Copet and Alvina Kind.
