CHARLENE A. SCHMIDT, age 63, of Eleva, formerly of Loyal, was granted her angel wings on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 with her family by her side after a long battle with breast cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Pallbearers will be Aaron Budtke, Alec Hannum, Dustin Dietel, Jeremiah Dietel, Aaron Rueth and Chad Kollmansberger. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Hannum and Sergio Dietel. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm, with a 7:30pm rosary service, and again on Saturday, from 10am until time of service.
Charlene Ann Hannum was born on April 11, 1950, in Marshfield, WI, the daughter of Francis and Harriet (Rottscheit) Hannum. She was raised and received her education in Marshfield, graduating from Columbus High School in 1968. She was united in marriage to Carl R. Mischka in 1977. They later divorced. Char was later united in marriage to Dale M. Schmidt on July 11, 1987 at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield.
Although she loved quilting, sewing, decorating and genealogy, her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Dale Schmidt; her daughter: Renee (Troy) Daniel; her son: Rodney (Christina) Mischka; 4 grandchildren: Jackson, Denver, Mariah Jo and Tatum; 3 brothers: Richard Hannum, Robert (Jean) Hannum, Lawrence (Chris) Hannum; 2 sisters: Sheila (Peter) Dietel and Lori (Dennis) Budtke; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
