Full Obituary

SHERRIN L. MACK, age 88, of Loyal, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, February 14, 2014 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, in Loyal, with Rev. Steve Brice officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Military rites will be conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post #175. Burial will take place in the Loyal Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, from 9:30am until time of service.
Sherrin Lee Mack was born on September 17, 1925 in Loyal, WI, the son of Walter and Lulu (Welsh) Mack. He was raised and received his education in Loyal, graduating from Loyal High School in 1943. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in the fall of 1943 and served in the 65th Division, 3rd Army, under General George S. Patton. After his discharge in May of 1946, Sherrin returned to Loyal and worked at Englewood Nursery, in Spencer, for a short time. He was united in marriage to Leabel S. Voight on January 15, 1947 at St. Anthony's rectory in Loyal. Sherrin worked for 10 years at Lakeshire-Marty Cold Storage, in Loyal, before becoming a rural mail carrier in 1957. He retired in 1987 after 30 years with the postal service. Sherrin also tended bar at the bowling alley for several years and calibrated bulk tanks.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and the Loyal American Legion, where he took care of the Legion trout pond for many years.
Sherrin was very active in the Loyal community. He and his wife, Lea, helped and took in troubled kids in the community, he served on the Loyal City Council and the Loyal School Board, and coached 6th grade boys basketball for several years.
His interests were many, including, the love of fly fishing, golfing, bowling, he enjoyed growing roses, being in the woods hunting grouse and pheasants, traveling, and he loved his dogs, especially giving them rides in the golf cart.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Lea, of Loyal; his children: Michael (Joan) of Windsor, WI, Isabelle Price of Scottsdale, AZ, Kevin (Michelle) of Buffalo City, WI, Maureen Lindekugel of Marshfield, WI, Ted of Buffalo City, WI, Shawn (Julie) of Austin, TX, Susan Austin of Waukesha, WI, Patrick (Diana) of Poynette, WI; 23 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one sister-in-law: Phyllis Mack of Melbourne, Australia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister: Mildred Sterr; his twin sister: Shirley Kehoe; and one brother: Vance Mack.
