MARTHA H. WOJT, age 95, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen, WI, surrounded by her family.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, in Thorp.  Rev. Stanley Michael Antony will officiate, and burial will follow in Old St. Hedwig Catholic Cemetery, rural Thorp.  Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 9:30am until time of service.
Martha Helen Karpinski was born on November 15, 1927 in Thorp, WI, the daughter of Henry and Nettie (Walczak) Karpinski.  Martha attended Goff school in Reseburg and graduated from Thorp High School in 1945. After high school, Martha moved to Florida for several years where she worked as a teletype operator for Eastern Airlines and the Miami Herald.  She would come back to Thorp in the summer to help on the family farm, and during one of those summers, she met her husband Victor C. Wojt at Mile-a-Way Bar where they held polka dances.  They married on November 24, 1951 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church.  Martha and Victor farmed in the Thorp area on the farm that Victor took over from his parents, and raised four children there.  In 1967, Martha decided to waitress at the Thorpedo Restaurant which had recently opened.  She worked there for 38 years until the age of 78.  She made many good friends there, coworkers and customers alike.  She was well known due to her friendly personality and the good service she provided.  After retiring from Thorpedo, Martha worked at Thorp Elementary School for the Grandma program, where she assisted kindergarten students that needed extra help.  She worked there for ten years until she was 89.
When Martha wasn't working, she enjoyed attending polka dances with her friends, swimming at the Stanley pool and going on vacations with her family and her friends.
Martha was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church for many years.
She is survived by her children: Arlene (Tom) Stoelting of Wasilla, AK and Allan Wojt of Forest Lake, MN; her sister Dorothy (Ralph) Rhodes of West Bend; and her granddaughter Megan Stoelting.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor Wojt; her daughter, Audrey Wojt; her son, Kenneth Wojt; and her sister, Melania Karpinski.
