Full Obituary

MALIN F. SLAWATYNIEC, age 78, of Thorp, WI, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital, in Eau Claire, WI, on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Thorp Funeral Home. Pastor Randy VanDeLoo will officiate, and burial will follow in Eidsvold Cemetery, rural Stanley, WI. Pallbearers will be Malin's nephews and friends. Military rites will be conducted by the Thorp American Legion Post #118. Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home, of Friday, from 9:30am until time of service.
Malin Felix Slawatyniec was born on May 25, 1942 in Stanley, WI, the son of Michael and Mary (Dudra) Slawatyniec. He was raised and received his education in the Stanley area until 1955. His foster parents moved to West Salem, WI where he graduated from West Salem High School in 1960. Malin then entered the U.S. Army National Guard on June 29, 1964 and served until his honorable discharge on December 19, 1964 After returning from the service, he moved to Kenosha, where he worked at American Motors for 20 years, and then later at J. I. Case. Malin moved to Thorp and worked on a farm for 10 years, and then was employed at Wisconsin Bench, where he worked for 27 years.
He had many interests, but especially enjoyed auctions, going to local ball games, collecting plates and stamps, and eating cakes and pies.
Malin is survived by one brother: Nick Slawatyniec of Buffalo City, WI; one sister-in-law: Joyce Slowatyniec of Neenah, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Tom Slawatyniec and Ted Slowatyniec; one sister: Carol Rueth; and one sister-in-law: Carol Slawatyniec.
