MARY A. NYSTED, age 87, of Birchwood, WI, soared On Eagle’s Wings (a favorite hymn) to heaven on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.  Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, WI.  Rev. Kristi Ursin will officiate, and burial will follow in the Loyal City Cemetery.
Mary Ann Nysted was born on February 1, 1932 in Marshfield, WI, the ninth of ten children of Peter E. and Tilla J. (Holt) Nysted.  Mary graduated from Loyal High School, and attended one year at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, before moving to St. Louis where she worked and lived for a couple of years.  An adventurer, Mary found her way to Phoenix in 1953 and worked at TWA.  She married Jayson R. Brentlinger on January 23, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, WI, and raised her two children, Mark and Jayleen, in a Paradise Valley, AZ home she helped design.
As a gifted artist, Mary mastered stain glass, oil painting, water color, weaving, bonsai gardening, wood carving and lathe wood turning.  She owned and operated Cabin Fever weaving studio in Eagle River, WI, where she taught weaving, sold looms, yarns and handwoven clothing.  She moved back to Wisconsin in 1988 and split her time between Wisconsin and Arizona, skillfully driving her 40’ RV across the country.
Mary loved her many dogs, the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin, the desert of Arizona, and all of nature.  She was a master gardener and was entertained watching birds at her well stocked feeder (sometimes a gray squirrel, too).
Mary is survived by her grandchildren: Melissa (Nick) Reese of Phoenix, AZ, and James (Kaleen) Brentlinger of Firestone, CO;  one sister: Jeanne (Ken) Dahlby of Birchwood;  one daughter-in-law: LuAnn Brentlinger of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her son: Mark Brentlinger; her daughter: Jayleen Brentlinger; 4 brothers: Leonard Nysted, Orville Nysted, Julius Nysted, Lyle Nysted; and 4 sisters: Wanda Auth, Violet Finet, Pearl Ursin and Margaret Noeldner.
