Valeria "Val" Klick was born on August 29, 1934 in Thorp, WI, to John and Pearl (Kmieciak) Klick and spent the early years of her life on the family farm with her five siblings. After high school she married Raymond "Ray" Teclaw on June 2, 1952, at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, in Thorp. They then moved to Minneapolis and together raised five children.
In 1992, Val and Ray retired and returned to Thorp to a shared family condominium complex they designed and built with two of Ray’s sisters and one brother, which is a gathering place for many family special occasions and celebrations.
Val was an incredible homemaker that included being a fabulous cook and home handywoman. She had many talents including drawing/painting, ceramics, had a beautiful singing voice, and an amazing "green thumb". She was a skilled and loving caregiver for her immediate family and grandchildren, in addition to her brother, Bob and sisters-in-law Angeline and Lillian. She was indeed a "wonder woman". Most importantly, she was a woman of faith, an incredible wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she was the best!
She was a member of the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary, Parish Council Catholic Women (PCCW), Polish National Alliance (PNA), and founding committee member of Thorp Pumpkin Fest. While living in Minneapolis, Val was a member of the Ladies of Columbus, Holy Rosary choir, and Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Her work experience included Royal Ann China in Minneapolis, and an election worker in Thorp.
She is survived and will be missed by her heartbroken family: husband, Raymond, of Thorp; five children: Judy Dahl of Apple Valley, MN; Michael (special friend Katherine) Teclaw of Thorp; Roger (Dottie) Teclaw of Minneapolis, MN; Karen Teclaw of Minneapolis, MN; and Bob (Peggy) Teclaw of Alexandria, MN; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Frank, Ervin, Mary, John and Robert.
The family is ever-grateful for the care of her primary medical provider, Peter Gintner, PA-C; Drs. Muhammad Muslim and Dean Delmastro of the Marshfield Medical Cancer Center in Eau Claire; Dr. Jon Potter and the many caring staff members of Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, and the Ascension Our Lady of Victory Hospital emergency staff in Stanley.
