Ina Mae Baehr was born on March 1, 1926, in the town of Hixon, rural Withee, to Harry and Clara (Beckman) Baehr. She was raised in the Withee area, attending Oak Vale School and graduated from Owen High School in 1943. She was united in marriage to Edward W. Miller on September 16, 1944, at St. John’s Lutheran parsonage in Withee. Shortly after their marriage, her husband entered the U.S. Army and Ina went to work at Blue Moon Cheese in Thorp, WI. After his discharge, they bought Maple Grove Dairy in Milladore, which they owned and operated for 5 years. In 1951, they moved to Loyal and bought Pleasant View Dairy where he continued to make cheese. After a fire destroyed the dairy in 1991, they moved into Loyal and Ina helped her son, Wayne, on his farm for 25 years. She also worked as a part-time cook for the Loyal American Legion hall for 30 years.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 69 years, being very active in the ladies aide and serving many meals. Ina, along with Mavis Luber, started the annual "Meal with a Peel" Fall dinner at the church. She was also a member of the Loyal American Legion Auxiliary for 57 years, and the Clark County Homemakers Club.
Ina had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, making pies and soups for her kids, and pies for Art and Walt Hoffman.
She will be dearly missed by her children: Allen (Janis) Miller of Spencer, Marvin (Arlene) Miller of Loyal, Janice (Bob) Boehning of Marshfield, Leland (Debbie) Miller of Spencer, Wayne (Linda) Miller of Loyal; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; one grandson, Luke Miller; 3 brothers: Norbert, Norman and Kenneth Baehr; and 2 sisters: Romilda Englebretson and Elaine Alger.
Ina's family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at House of the Dove for the wonderful care they gave her during her stay there.
In lieu of flowers, that family asks that memorials be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, in Loyal, or the House of the Dove, in Marshfield.
