Full Obituary

     LESTER W. SEVERSON, age 94, of Loyal, WI, peacefully passed away at his home with his family at his side on Thursday, October 26, 2017.  A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Missionary Baptist Church, in Greenwood.  Rev. Geoff Smith will officiate.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Thursday, from 9am until time of service.
     Lester William Severson was born on February 22, 1923 in the Town of Beaver, Clark County, WI, to Vern and Luella (Stabnow) Severson.  He was raised in Loyal and received his education at Sunny Knoll School.  Lester was drafted and served in the U.S. Navy from November of 1943 until his honorable discharge in January of 1946.  He was united in marriage to Helen L. Thomas on June 8, 1946 at Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood.  Lester farmed and worked at Western Condensing in Owen, later Foremost Foods, as a boiler operator and evaporator operator from 1951 to 1985.  He continued farming until selling the farm.  They built a home on 80 acres and resided there until his death.
     He was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Post #238 and had many interests, but especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, woodworking and playing cards.
     Lester is survived by his wife, Helen, of Loyal;  daughter:  Kathy (Richard) Much of Greenwood;  sons:  Dale (Kathy) of Curtiss;  Richard of Loyal;  daughter-in-law Joan Severson of Greenwood, 14 grandchildren;  48 great-grandchildren;  sister:  Alice Scott of Crystal Lake, IL,  brother:  Douglas (Elaine) of Withee;  nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     He was preceded in death by his parents (Luella and Vern);  two sisters and two brothers-in-law:  Vera (Harold) Heck and Ethel (Ralph) Thomas;  two sons:  Robert and Kenneth;  two daughters-in-law:  Lisa Severson and June Severson;  one grandson:  Jeffery Severson; and one brother-in-law:  George Scott.
