I had the honor of meeting Mary through the Marshfield Area Purple Angels PALS program. I would visit with Mary weekly at Golden Living -Three Oaks and I enjoyed many conversations with her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and she loved to play a game we invented called "yarn ball" where we would sit around a table and toss and roll balls of yarn. Mary had a lot of capabilities that seemed to be mostly underestimated, and many of the staff seemed surprised at all the things she said and did whenever she was engaged in meaningful activities and music therapy provided through the PALS program. I always enjoyed my time with her and I will miss her greatly. A donation in her memory has been given to Marshfield Area Purple Angels to continue the PALS program and to provide the needed social, emotional, and physical aspects of dementia care that are sorely lacking in our nursing homes and care facilities.
