Condolences to the Family of Roman D. Stroinski

It was December 1968 when I first met Roman. I was 11 years old and attending an after-school CCD class at St Hedwig’s along with my new best-friend, Anton. Young boys often have silly moments, and once our 60 minutes of Christian Development was over, we reverted back to being kids. One of the usual games was “keep away” in which one person would take something of another’s and keep it away from them. In this case I borrowed (took) Anton’s stocking cap. In Anton’s attempt to regain possession (part of the game) I tossed it up in the air. Fortunately or unfortunately it landed on top of the one of the room’s globed light fixtures approximately 12’ up. I won’t repeat Anton’s unchristian comment, but it appeared he was upset with the game’s result. It was Roman who came to pick Anton up for the ride home. When he came into the classroom and was advised what occurred, it was obvious he was disappointed; I nervously awaited my punishment. Without words, however, he located a ladder and retrieved the cap. Upon departing he glanced at me with what appeared to be a wink as if to say, “I was a kid to”. My sympathy to the Stroinski Family. May the wonderful memories bring comfort. Jeff

Very sorry for your loss. I remember re-meeting Roman after too many years at Val's funeral with my mother Pearl. And then again at the reunion.

Sorry for your loss. It was nice seeing Roman at the Teclaw Reunion last summer. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you
