Condolences to the Family of Dennis W. Larson

Shirley (Sam) Hicks a/la Shirley Greene Steven's Point WI – Posted On: February 29, 2020

This is way past due - but I still feel the need to put my gratitude & gratefulness in writing. I was one of the "troubled kids in Loyal in the 1950's. I found my way out to the Larson farm - Comet & Rocket were the goal. Dennis & Elsue were the kindest & most accepting people I've ever known. They never asked me to but I cleaned the barn, shoveled the manure, brushed the concrete with the bigvwude broom, stripped a few if the cows once the milkers were done, helped pick rock on the hot summer days & threcthem on the rock wagon. Anything I could do to ride those horses. And the trust that Dennis showed by letting me take Comet any day, any time for as long as I wanted. He never questioned it doubted me and for that I am deeply grateful. And to this day I credit Dennis for saving me from what could have been a very different direction. My best memories were working on the Larson farm & riding those beautiful horses. And being grateful for the trust of the Larson family. I'm SO very sorry this memoir is so late.
